Renowned rapper and lyricist, Vector tha Viper, recently sat down with Chude Jideonwo on the viral show #WithChude for an intimate conversation that explains the highs and lows of his career, his steadfastness in being true to himself, and the personal battles he’s fought along the way. In this exclusive interview, Vector shared the steep price he’s paid for staying authentic in a country like Nigeria, claiming he has been shadow banned for speaking his truth. But despite the challenges, he remains unafraid, insisting that no man who owns a mic can instill fear in him.

Going further into Vector’s journey, from growing up amidst the violence of Lagos Island to studying witchcraft at the University of Lagos, and how these experiences have shaped his worldview. He talked about the influence of his wife and daughters in teaching him tenderness, while also revealing his unique parenting approach—teaching his daughters how to defend themselves, both physically and emotionally. Vector also opened up about his professional scuffles, including his highly-publicized feud with MI and media misunderstandings about his comments on Burna Boy and Nigeria.

Through it all, Vector emphasized that his happiness comes from creating music, not from the external validation of others. “I couldn’t depend on people to make me happy when God has given me the gifts that make me happy by myself,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to his art and his philosophy of finding joy in creation, not reception.
