At Joy, Inc., we believe storytelling is more than content. It is culture. It is how we heal, how we remember, and how we reimagine what’s possible.
That’s why we are proud to serve as the official media partner for the Champions Project, a bold initiative advancing gender-equitable storytelling across Nigeria’s entertainment and media industries.
Powered by CcHub Creative and Entertainment & Media Hubs, the project brings together 12 visionary storytellers who are shifting narratives and shaping culture. From intimate workshops in Lagos to the global stage at the Tribeca Film Festival, these champions are using story to create space, amplify underrepresented voices, and drive meaningful change.
At Tribeca, the Champions gathered for a masterclass led by award-winning filmmaker and NYU professor Enid Zentelis. The session explored what authentic gender representation looks like in film—and how storytellers can push for balance where bias once ruled. It was bold, honest, and deeply affirming.
Then something remarkable happened.
Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, walked into the room. She met the Champions. She listened. She stayed. And in that quiet moment, something powerful was affirmed: this work matters.
Equity is not men versus women. It’s everyone versus inequality.
We celebrate the storytellers leading that charge:
Jola Ayeye, Omoni Oboli, Stephanie Linus, Biodun Stephen, Shimata Ver, Falalu A. Dorayi, Nadine Ibrahim, Daniel Ochuko, Tola Olatunji, Uche Pedro, Joke Silva, and Jason Abaga.
Thank you for your courage. Your voice. Your vision.
This is more than a project. It is a movement. And Joy, Inc. is proud to be part of it.
