Chude Jideonwo to Lead Readers’ Corner Conversation on Writing Beyond Journalism at CANEX WKND 2026

Media entrepreneur, journalist, storyteller and host of the viral talk show #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo, will feature at the Readers’ Corner of CANEX WKND 2026, where he will participate in a special author conversation and reading alongside fellow journalist and author Anote Ajeluorou. Scheduled for Thursday, November 5, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts (formerly the National Theatre), Iganmu, Lagos, the session is themed “When Journalists Write” and will explore the authors’ respective journeys from journalism into book writing. Jideonwo will share insights from his Amazon bestselling memoir, How Depression Saved My Life, while Ajeluorou will discuss his book, Moonbeam.

The Readers’ Corner session will feature readings from both authors’ books, followed by a question-and-answer session with attendees and a book-signing opportunity. For Jideonwo, it offers an opportunity to engage readers more closely with How Depression Saved My Life, a deeply personal memoir published by Narrative Landscape Press. The book explores his experiences with depression, emotional wellbeing, vulnerability and the journey towards finding meaning and joy through difficult seasons. Through the conversation, attendees will hear directly from the author about the experiences and reflections behind the book, as well as the process of translating personal stories into published work.

CANEX WKND, an initiative of Afreximbank, brings together creatives, entrepreneurs and cultural leaders from Africa, the Caribbean and the diaspora to promote and strengthen the continent’s creative industries. Its programme includes the CANEX Book Factory, the CANEX Publishing Prize, for which Narrative Landscape Press serves as managing partner, and the CANEX Creative Writing Workshop. Jideonwo’s Readers’ Corner appearance is one part of his participation at this year’s gathering; he is also scheduled to moderate a separate fireside conversation with filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele on Friday, November 6. Together, these engagements reflect his continued contribution to conversations across African media, storytelling, literature and the creative economy.
