Chude Jideonwo to Moderate Fireside Chat with Funke Akindele at CANEX WKND 2026

Media entrepreneur, filmmaker and host of #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo, will moderate a fireside chat with award-winning filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele at the 2026 Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND), scheduled to take place from November 5 to 8 at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos, Nigeria. Promoted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and hosted by the Government of Nigeria, CANEX WKND brings together leaders, investors, policymakers and creative practitioners to advance Africa’s creative and cultural industries.

Held under the theme “One People, United in Culture, Creating for the World,” CANEX WKND 2026 will explore opportunities to strengthen Africa’s creative economy through trade, investment, market access and sustainable growth. The programme will bring together stakeholders across film, music, fashion, literature, visual arts, gastronomy, technology and other creative sectors, creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and partnerships that can expand the global reach of African creativity. The fireside chat with Funke Akindele will provide an opportunity to explore the experiences, ideas and creative vision shaping one of Africa’s most influential entertainment industries.

Jideonwo’s role as moderator draws on his experience in media, storytelling and conversations with influential voices across Africa and the diaspora. Through #WithChude and his wider work in the creative sector, he has built platforms for real conversations about people, culture, leadership and the forces shaping society. His conversation with Funke Akindele at CANEX WKND 2026 will contribute to broader discussions about African storytelling, the power of film and entertainment, and the opportunities for African creatives to shape global culture.
