Media entrepreneur and host of the viral talkshow #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo, sits down with food content creator, entrepreneur, author and media personality Sisi Yemmie for an intimate conversation about stress, motherhood, identity and the unexpected ways life can force us to slow down. Sisi reflects on the intense pressure of writing her master’s dissertation and the frightening morning she woke up to find that half of her face had collapsed. “I woke up one day, and half of my face had collapsed,” she reveals, linking the experience to the stress she was under at the time.
The conversation moves through some of the defining chapters of her life: moving to the UK to study a course she did not connect with, discovering food content creation and eventually building a career around it, and the profound transformation that came with motherhood. She speaks honestly about experiencing depression during pregnancy, a traumatic first childbirth experience and the overwhelming reality of caring for five children while managing staff and a growing career. Yet, through all of it, she says niching down was one of the best decisions she ever made. “I do not regret niching down to food content creation,” she says. “It was the best decision I could have taken because I am so deep in it and passionate about it.”
In the deeply human style that has become synonymous with #WithChude, Africa’s top podcast and talkshow, Sisi Yemmie also ponders on the boundaries she has had to create around marriage, motherhood and work, and the process of finding herself again after becoming consumed by the demands of being a mother. What began simply as a love for food has grown into more than a decade of work, creativity and purpose, but this conversation is ultimately about the woman behind it all: learning to listen to herself, choosing what matters, and continuing to build a life that feels authentically hers.
