Seasoned entrepreneur, mentor, and business leader Temilola Adepetun sits down with media entrepreneur and host of #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo, for an honest conversation on resilience, leadership, and the personal experiences that have shaped her journey. In the interview, Adepetun reflects on family, speaking warmly about her son, style icon and media personality Denola Grey. She shares how his rising stardom often sparks curiosity about her own identity, with many assuming she is an actress because of their striking resemblance.
She goes on to speak candidly about the realities of building and sustaining a business in Nigeria, including experiences of fraud and the difficult lessons they brought. For Adepetun, resilience is non-negotiable. “Running a business in Nigeria is not easy, you can’t afford to be afraid.” She says. She also emphasizes the importance of structure and people, noting that the strength of any company lies in the quality of those entrusted to build it.
Beyond business, Adepetun opens up about deeply personal moments that tested her strength, including a life-threatening incident in 2003 when her car was attacked. Despite the trauma, she chose to push forward, driven by her commitment to her children. “I was attacked on my way to go see my kids but I still went on to see them.”
She also shares her experience of living with a hearing impairment, challenging stigma and choosing to live boldly and visibly, while continuing her work mentoring SMEs and guiding others through the complexities of life and business. Adepetun challenges societal expectations that children must fulfill their parents’ dreams, advocating instead for individuality and purpose.
