In this brave and intentional episode of #WithChude, Israel Peters opens up about his journey of self-discovery, identity, and resilience. “I don’t identify as queer, I am queer,” he declares, recounting how he knew this truth about himself as early as age six. While others his age spoke of crushes on girls, Israel remembers dreaming of meeting boys, navigating a childhood marked by fear, misunderstanding, and attempts to suppress his natural expression.

He shares how growing up effeminate often brought ridicule and even threats, including from his mother, who warned him to “stop walking that way.” But as he matured, Israel found strength in community and visibility. Watching others boldly protest and wave the rainbow flag gave him the courage to live authentically and to speak without shame or fear.

Now, Israel uses his voice to call for justice and empathy, shedding light on the brutal realities faced by queer people, especially young boys who experience violence, harassment, and sexual assault.
