The gripping documentary ‘Where is Chijioke?’, directed by Chude Jideonwo, has been named an Official Selection at the San Diego Black Film Festival 2025. This film exposes the tragic disappearance of Chijioke Iloanya, who was abducted by officers of the Akwuzu Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in 2012, and the relentless advocacy of his sister, Obianuju, who has fought for justice over the past two decades.
This documentary is part of an innovative, long-term, immersion media project that began after the historic 2020 #EndSARS protests, where Nigerian youth courageously stood against police brutality. Through the eyes and voice of Obianuju, Where is Chijioke? tells a deeply human story of loss, and the enduring pursuit of accountability. “We are committed to this story, staying in it until justice is served and Chijioke is found or accounted for,” Jideonwo shared, emphasizing the project’s dedication to seeing this story through to its rightful conclusion.
The San Diego Black Film Festival, a premier platform for celebrating Black narratives, provides a global stage for this vital story. Chude’s commitment to documenting Obianuju’s journey ensures that the world continues to witness her extraordinary courage and sacrifice.
